Shannon was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He developed a life-long interest in computers starting with his first, a Compaq Portable in 1984 (with a 4.77 MHz 8088 processor and 128k of RAM). He turned a lifelong hobby into a career by taking advantage of any occasion to expand his knowledge about computers. One of Shannon's first jobs was in 1989, working at the Compaq plant in Houston assembling Compaq desktop PCs. In 1991 he moved to Birmingham, seeking work as an AutoCAD designer. Instead he was hired by Xerox to service copiers, printers and computers. Shannon received his first taste of the Internet with an InLine dialup account in 1996. In addition he has worked help desk for Southern Company, as a PC technician, as the Network Administrator for a 120 user company, and for the last three years he has been an independent consultant with his own company Any Key Small Business Services. We are pleased that Shannon has decided to merge with our team. He cites the primary reasons for this move as the ability to offer more diverse services to his clients, as well as the opportunity to work with a team again, and to have even more technological toys to learn about at InLine.
Shannon specializes in Microsoft Small Business Server, Terminal Services, Network Security, and has a particular fascination with PDA's, especially Pocket PC's.
Shannon married his wife Amy in 1996 and they have two children, Maggie (7) and Liam (5). He lives with his family in Bluff Park. Shannon loves new technologies, especially mobile technologies and despite spending all day solving computer problems can often be found at home pushing the limits of different hardware and software to see what makes them tick. He is also a musician and plays mandolin, violin, guitar and banjo. In particular bluegrass and folk music are his favorite styles. He also enjoys camping, cooking, and home-brewing.
